The FA’s accreditation scheme is here to create high quality, well run grassroots football clubs, aiming to provide club’s a nationally recognised quality control ‘kitemark’
The FA Charter Standard Clubs programme, supported by FA Community Partner McDonald’s, was launched in February 2001 with the aim of setting standards of coaching, administration and child protection for clubs working with young people.
The programme is aimed at boys and girls under sixteen years old and will help children and parents find a club in their local area that meets FA standards.
The project is at the heart of The Football Association’s investment programme for grassroots football that will see upon average £32 million spent to improve facilities and coaching across the country. The aim of the programme is to:
- Improve the quality of provision and enjoyment for everyone
- Help players and coaches achieve their potential
- Sustain participation for players for a longer time
- Raise standards & address abusive behaviour
The FA Charter Standard Club Programme has three levels:
- FA Charter Standard Community Club
- FA Charter Standard Development Club
- FA Charter Standard Youth & Adult Club
Locks Heath Lions Football Club is currently a FA Charter Standard Development Club. Within this framework, everyone at Locks Heath Lions works to specific guidance:
- To provide quality, safe opportunities for young people of all ages in our community
- To provide a safe and positive alternative place to go other than playing on the streets
- To help people realise their potential, develop personal skills and confidence
- To introduce people to football regardless of age, ability, sex, religion and ethnic background
- To improve the performance of players, Coaches and volunteers within the club
