FA Charter Development Club

The FA’s accreditation scheme is here to create high quality, well run grassroots football clubs,  aiming to provide club’s a nationally recognised quality control ‘kitemark’

The FA Charter Standard Clubs programme, supported by FA Community Partner McDonald’s, was launched in February 2001 with the aim of setting standards of coaching, administration and child protection for clubs working with young people.

The programme is aimed at boys and girls under sixteen years old and will help children and parents find a club in their local area that meets FA standards.

The project is at the heart of The Football Association’s investment programme for grassroots football that will see  upon average £32 million spent to improve facilities and coaching across the country. The aim of the programme is to:

  • Improve the quality of provision and enjoyment for everyone
  • Help players and coaches achieve their potential
  • Sustain participation for players for a longer time
  • Raise standards & address abusive behaviour

The FA Charter Standard Club Programme has three levels:

  • FA Charter Standard Community Club
  • FA Charter Standard Development Club
  • FA Charter Standard Youth & Adult Club

Locks Heath Lions Football Club is currently a FA Charter Standard Development Club. Within this framework, everyone at Locks Heath Lions works to specific guidance:
